Breakfast is, has been, and most likely always will be my favorite meal of the day. (If you follow me on Instagram you have undoubtedly noticed this). Savory, sweet, quick and easy, long and leisurely... I love them all. It's the meal that sets the tone for your entire day, so what's not to celebrate?
Until recently I ate all of my weekday breakfasts alone, mostly at my desk. I kept telling myself I had to do this to save time, and that I didn't mind waiting until I got to work to "enjoy" my morning meal. A shift in my attitude (and the addition to my household of a fellow breakfast-worshipper) has nipped this (three-and-a-half-years-running) habit in the bud. How much time was I really saving by packing my breakfasts at home and taking them to work, eating with one hand and scrolling through emails with another? It's bad enough that some of my lunches are spent this way, why lessen the importance of this daily ritual with distractions?
I'm not saying there won't be mornings when things come up and all we have time for are on-the-go breakfasts. But in the meantime I plan on slowing down, savoring the morning, and starting my days off right.
